Why Amazon books are different

Your Amazon deposit isn't your sales.

Amazon pays out net, after fees, refunds and reserves have been taken. Book the deposit as revenue and every line of your P&L is wrong. We take each settlement apart.

01

One settlement, dozens of line types

Sales, refunds, referral fees, FBA fees and reimbursements arrive in one deposit. We post each to its own account, so you can see what every fee costs you.

02

Reserves move money between months

Cash held back in one settlement shows up in a later one. We track the reserve, so your deposits tie to the month's sales.

03

Stock sits in Amazon's warehouses

Inventory you send to FBA is still yours. We keep it on the balance sheet until it sells, so profit doesn't swing with every inbound shipment.

04

Landed cost decides your real margin

Freight, duty and prep to reach the fulfillment center belong in each unit's cost. We build them in, so your Amazon margin is the real one.

05

COGS has to follow units sold

We tie cost per unit to the units that actually sold, so your gross margin on Amazon stops being an estimate.

Questions

Amazon seller accounting questions

Do you understand Amazon settlements, reserves and FBA fees?

Yes. That is the core of the work. We split every settlement into sales, refunds, each fee type and reserve movements, post each to its own account, and match the net amount to your bank before the month is closed. The sample at the top of this page shows the layout.

Do I need an Amazon FBA CPA?

You need two kinds of help, and they work together. Bookkeeping is what we do: settlements reconciled, inventory and COGS kept current, books closed every month. Your tax preparer, often a CPA or enrolled agent, prepares and files your return, and a CPA, enrolled agent or attorney can represent you with the IRS. We hand them finished books, so their work starts from numbers that already tie to Seller Central.

How much does accounting for an Amazon business cost?

Plans start at $249/month for up to 300 orders a month on one or two channels; more orders or channels move you to Growth or Scale. Inventory and COGS for FBA stock is included from Growth, or $99 a month on Starter. Settlement months that need catching up are $149 each, and your quote confirms the total in writing after your free books review.

Will you need my Seller Central password?

No. We send read-only invitations and you approve each one; we never ask for a password. Read-only means we can see your reports and transactions, but we can't move your money.

I also sell on Shopify or eBay. Can you handle that too?

Yes. Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy, Walmart and TikTok Shop all go into one set of books, with a profit and loss by channel each month, so you can compare Amazon's margin with your other channels.

My Amazon settlements haven't been reconciled for months. Can I still start?

Yes. We rebuild each missing month from your settlement reports, oldest first, and match every settlement to your bank, at $149 per month behind. Your free books review counts the months; your written quote states the total before work starts, and your monthly plan picks up after.
