EXAMPLE: THE DEMO STORE'S CAMP STOVE · ADD YOUR OWN FEES
Profit per unit: 21.00, margin 46.7%, fees 0.00.
The Amazon profit formula.
Referral fee = the greater of referral % × (price + shipping charged) and the minimum referral fee
Amazon fees = referral fee + FBA fulfillment fee + storage per unit + selling plan fee per unit
Profit per unit = price + shipping charged − item cost − your shipping cost − Amazon fees − ad spend − other costs
Margin = profit per unit ÷ (price + shipping charged)
Amazon charges its referral fee on the item’s total price, which its selling fees page says includes the list price, shipping and any gift wrap. Each fee is rounded to the cent. The break-even price is the lowest selling price, to the cent, at which this unit does not lose money, with everything else held the same; the FBA fee is held as entered, so if a lower price would move the item to a different FBA fee, re-enter it.
The example is the demo store's camp stove: a selling price of 45.00 and a landed cost of 24.00 leave 21.00, a 46.7% margin, before any Amazon fees or advertising. Enter your category’s referral fee and the item’s FBA fee to see what is left after them. If you only know the supplier price, work out the landed cost first with the landed cost calculator.
