ILLUSTRATIVE ANALYSIS — DEMO STORE, NOT A CLIENT
You sell more than one product, or on more than one channel.
You sell $50k to $1M a year online and want to know which products and marketplaces carry the business before you decide where the next dollar of stock and ads goes.
Revenue ranks your products. Profit can rank them differently.
Every channel charges different fees, every product carries a different landed cost, and ads land unevenly. Margin only shows up once each cost is charged to the product and channel that caused it.
COGS has to follow units sold
Cost of goods charged by the units each channel shipped is what makes channel margins comparable.
Read the answer →Landed cost changes the order
Freight, duty and prep weigh more on heavy, low-priced products. Leave them out and the wrong SKU looks like your best.
Read the answer →Fees differ by channel
Each channel charges its own mix of fees, so each channel's fees are booked to that channel, from its own fee report.
Read the answer →Cost per unit has to be right first
SKU profitability is only as good as the cost per unit behind it, kept current as you buy and sell.

Once you know which products earn the most, a cash forecast shows when you can afford to buy more of them.

SKU profitability and profit by channel questions
How much does profitability analysis cost?
It is included in our Scale plan, or $299 a month on its own, as shown on our pricing page. Your scope is confirmed in writing after your free books review.
What is contribution margin?
What a product or channel earns after the costs it causes: cost of goods, marketplace and payment fees, advertising and shipping. Shared costs such as rent and wages come after it.
How many SKUs do you report on?
Every channel, and the SKUs that make up most of your sales, with the rest grouped. The exact count is set in your written quote.
Where do the numbers come from?
From your own reconciled books: payouts split by A2X or Link My Books, cost per unit from your inventory records, and ad spend from each platform's invoices. Every report ties back to your P&L.
Do I need monthly bookkeeping as well?
Yes. Margin is built on closed books, so profitability analysis runs alongside a monthly plan, from $249/month.
